Please join us for a sign painting workshop with local artist, designer and sign painter Remedios Rapoport. Come and stay for the entire workshop or feel free to stop in, get your hands dirty for a bit and move on to another event. Workshop is free, but supplies will be required for participation (no more than $25 for recommended materials). A supply list will be provided to you prior to the workshop.
About Remedios: Born in Salem, Oregon, Remedios Rapoport vividly remembers childhood summer visits to the art museums of Southern California, being awed by the works of Jasper Johns, Robert Indiana, Claes Oldenburg, and Jackson Pollack. In high school, her artistic proclivity flourished in a printmaking program funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and Oregon Arts Commission. While studying painting and design at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, she traveled to Buenos Aires to learn the technique of Filete Porteño from the masters. After receiving her BFA from PNCA in 1989, she returned to Argentina and further honed her filete painting skills. An exhibition at the Museo de la Cuidad in Buenos Aires opened the door to future recognition, exhibition opportunities, and commissions. Rapoport’s work has been collected and exhibited widely in North America, South America, and Europe, including venues in Argentina and Switzerland, as well as galleries and museums throughout California, Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, and New York. She lives and works in Portland, OR, at the helm of The Gentle Revolution.
