Sickle Cell Disease Faith Based Roundtable

1. This meeting will provide the Faith community with the tools and information needed to dispel the stigma associated with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) as well as to counter the misconceptions about individuals with SCD.
2. Individual participants will learn about Sickle Cell Disease, and overlooked condition that are misunderstood by the public and frequently under-treated in non-specialized medical facilities. The disease affects more than 100,000 people in the U.S. and millions world-wide.
3. This meeting will also be used to draw on the talents and expertise and experience of the attendees to participate in the development of a system for spreading this message to the public by educating other Faith Leaders.

The vision of go SICKLE awareness campaign is to raise awareness of Sickle Cell Disease and Sickle Cell Trait through events and educational symposiums. Our hopes is through events, families affected by Sickle Cell Disease and Sickle Cell Trait worldwide - burdens will be reduced of those living with this chronic conditions that show no outward symptoms.
