Friday, August 1, 2014 from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM (EDT)
Long Island City, NY
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
On Friday, August 1st between 8 PM and 10 PM, RESOBOX Gallery in Long Island City will host a lecture by Charles Dunbar, a professional cultural lecturer and editor. The lecture will examine the recent anime “Kill la Kill” critically in comparison with Otogizoshi, a collection of traditional Japanese fairy tales that dates back hundreds of years. This lecture explores this reading of the series, how it parallels the old tales, and presents a new narrative for engaging and revealing deeper meanings in Japanese animation. This lecture complements our current art exhibit “BOKUSAI” by Shoko Kazama. (Details about the exhibit can be found here: http://resobox.com/bokusai/ )
Tickets are $10. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or check out http://resobox.com/shuten-doji-vs-state-shinto-kill-la-kill-as-modern-otogi-zoshi/ to find out more information.
