Chef Jim Solomon was the first chef to host a Pop-Up Night at The Urban Grape. Ever since, UG and The Fireplace have collaborated on a variety of fun projects - all food and wine related, of course!
We are thrilled to welcome Chef Solomon and his team from The Fireplace Restaurant back to The Urban Grape for an evening dedicated to all things Mushroom. There will be several savory courses, as well as a dessert course featuring the Candy Cap Mushroom, a sweet mushroom not often used in these parts. Chef will also be on hand to walk us through the many mysteries that surround cooking the perfect mushroom. For instance, I will be asking why chefs can always get a perfect sear on mushrooms, but mine always turn out soggy!
As usual, TJ will be getting creative with the beverage pairings. There will be wine, of course, but also an earthy sake with lots of Umami flavors, a beer or two, and perhaps even a cocktail to end the night! You can be sure whatever he picks will be the perfect complement to Chef's food.
