Masquerade on the Mississippi: 10th Anniversary Celebration
- Performing & Visual Arts
- LSU Museum of Art, Baton Rouge LA
The Shaw Center for the Arts, LSU Museum of Art and Glassell Gallery invites you to its second annual “Showcase the Space Soirée” on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Few settings in Baton Rouge can offer more gracious elegance than the facility rental spaces within the Shaw Center for the Arts. The unique venues offer breathtaking views over the Mississippi River and original works of art on the walls in the LSU Museum of Art. This event will showcase six venue spaces, including the LSU School of Art Alfred C. Glassell, Jr. Gallery, on the first floor; the Bert and Sue Turner Gallery and Alfred C. Glassell, Jr. Boardroom, on the third floor; the River Terrace, on the fourth floor; the Paula Garvey Manship floor which houses 14 galleries of the LSU Museum of Art on the Fifth floor; and the Irene Pennington Rooftop Terrace, on the sixth floor, next to Tsunami restaurant.
The Shaw Center for the Arts at 100 Lafayette Street is the first building in the United States to be completely clad in cast-glass channels. Evocative of a glass barge meandering along the Mississippi River, the building shimmers during the day; at night the structure becomes a glowing lantern on the levee.
This event is made possible in part by Heirloom Cuisine, LLC; Doug Olinde, LLC and Ginger’s Party Rental and with generous in-kind support of participating vendors. The Shaw Center for the Arts, LSU Museum of Art and Glassell Gallery thanks:
