Coffee Break Description
Ready or not here it comes! The Common Core transition has arrived. What does this mean and how will it impact teaching and learning for you and your students?

Join us as we examine practical strategies for using digital content and technologies to engage students in today’s 21st Century classrooms. We'll FLIP the situation as we explore a FLIPped class model to explore key foundations and then go hands on to begin developing a Common Core model lesson. Session concepts and ideas include the integration of Common Core focused content, pedagogy best practices, FLIPped Classrooms, and effective use of instructional technology to improve learning for all students.

A former elementary teacher from Anaheim City School District, Jannita Demian, now travels the nation delivering professional development and helping build community among teachers in the largest urban districts as a Director for the Discovery Educator Network (DEN). Jannita helps to create programs that integrate digital media, technology, curriculum, and pedagogy.

Over the past year, she has helped create and launch DEN Connects, Spotlight on Strategies, and the STAR Ambassador program. For her innovative spirit, she has received acknowledgements from districts and organizations such as Teacher of the Year (ACSD), Technology in Learning Leadership (CUE), STELLAR Award (Discovery Education) and Honorary Service Award (PTA).
