SFAI GRADUATE LECTURE: JOHN DE FAZIO
Superobjects: Subversive Souvenirs
John de Fazioʼs work centers on commemorative sculptures that objectify alternative reactions to pivotal moments in pop culture. His stated goal is “the desire to make allegorical fetish objects as cultural artifacts that serve as historic relics for the future.” In 2013, de Fazio exhibited six of his psychedelic beer stein and crematory urns at The American Museum of Ceramic Art, Pomona, California. Three of his politically themed “superobjects” were recently admitted into the collection of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
John de Fazio is Visiting Faculty in Sculpture at SFAI.
