One of the things that makes San Francisco so unique is our vibrant performing arts community. Join us as we celebrate the SF arts & entertainment scene with event organizers and enthusiasts. We'll mix and mingle over food and drinks, learn from a panel of industry experts, and wrap things up with a special performance.
Eventbrite's San Francisco Performing Arts Grant
At the event, we will also present the recipients of three $1000 grants we created to help San Francisco Bay Area performance groups bring their vision to life! We want to take the opportunity to celebrate our three winners, and the other talented finalists who shared their work with us.
During our panel discussion, three industry experts will share their tips, tricks, and best practices to utilize when securing sponsorships and strategic partners for your 2013 events. Topics will include:
Mat Rick (Head of Business Development: The Bold Italic)
Mat Rick is Head of Business Development at The Bold Italic, an onilne magazine, events hub, and shop in San Francisco, and join project of Gannett and IDEO. At TBI, Mat has helped develop and launch new products to create revenue streams in the areas of events, online advertising and creative services. He came to TBI after serving as Vice President of Business Development at Bolder, an innovative marketing and PR platform dedicated to behavior change through business to consumer incentives via social media. He holds an MBA from Presidio Graduate School and a dual BA from University of Pennsylvania.
Baldwin Cunningham (Co-founder/CEO: Sponsorfied)
As CEO of Sponsorfied, Baldwin is driven by a belief that brands can build deeper, more authentic relationships with their customers and animated by finding new ways for brands to bring their stories to life. He was formerly the Brand Manager for Zehnder, an ad agency on the east coast. Prior to Zehnder, he served as Marketing Director for What's Up Networks, an agency focused on experienced-based marketing for alcohol and clothing brands (Vineyard Vines, Harpoon, Firefly Vodka) in Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
Kathryn Cole (Director of Development: CounterPULSE)
Kat Cole is a choreographer, filmmaker, producer and fundraiser for the arts. She currently serves as the Development Manager for CounterPULSE, a community-based arts organization in SOMA. As the Artistic Director of detour dance, she has presented live and award-winning film work at ODC Theater, Dance Mission Theater, The University of San Francisco, and abroad in New York City, Finland, and Turkey. detour dance was recently awarded 1st place in the SF Weekly's Masterminds Competition in 2012, and is producing the first annual Tiny Dance Film Festival in San Francisco this year. She has also performed for several local dance companies, including 13th Floor Dance Theater, Amie Dowling, EmSpace Dance, Katie Faulkner, and kelly kemp & company/number 9 dance, and moonlights as a Production Manager for several local artists including Jesse Hewit, Laura Arrington, and THEOFFCENTER.
Jason Hoover (Artistic Director: Ray of Light Theater)
Jason moved to the Bay Area and began working with Ray of Light in 2006 when he Assistant Directed Seussical the Musical. Since that time his ROLT credits include, Rocky Horror, Jerry Springer the Opera, Assassins (BATCC award, Best Musical Direction), and The Full Monty. Additional credits, Insignificant Others at Pier 39, Toy Story the Musical with Disney, and Tales of the City at ACT. Jason became Artistic Director for ROLT in 2011.
Oakland-based family hip-hop group Alphabet Rockers match nostalgic beats with kid-friendly, educational lyrics – a combination that has garnered two Parents’ Choice Awards, 4-stars from Common Sense Media, presentation slots at kindergarten conferences, and Red Tricycle’s Best Kids Artist award. Chris Riggins was born and raised in Berkeley, Ca. starting comedy in February 2009. Chris was baptized by fire opening up for Dave Chappelle for his first stage experience. Since then Chris Riggins has rose to the top of Bay Area comedy ranks with his laid back style and real life subjects. Chris Riggins is also a great host as he hosts many shows up and down the west coast. Chris Riggins isready to make you laugh till it feels good.
Funkanometry San Francisco Dance Company
(aka Funks SF) is an award-winning, 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts organization renowned in the Bay Area for their cutting-edge choreography, stylistic versatility, and professionalism. It was established in 2002 and has a sister branch in New York. Led by seasoned Artistic Director, Emerson Aquino, Funkanometry SF is a dynamically different dance company dedicated to providing the Bay Area arts community with high quality dance training, affordable dance classes, performance opportunities, and youth mentorship.
Sarah Bush Dance
Sarah Bush has choreographed midnight club shows for many SF venues including Club Q at 177 Townsend and DNA Lounge, Orson, Trigger, 715 Harrison, Ruby Skye, 111 Minna, Infusion Lounge, and SF Pride events. Sarah Bush Dance Project performs on stages around the country and the world, creating high energy, cutting edge performances. Sarah's style is a fusion of Hip-Hop and Contemporary dance and evolves out of her diverse training and experience: performing in music videos, choreographing for AXIS Dance Company, guest performing with Bill T. Jones, a season as an NBA Golden State Warrior Girl, and (since 2000) as a taiko-drumming warrior woman with Dance Brigade. Ray of Light Theatre~Jessica Coker
Jessica Coker: Previous shows include Jerry Springer the Opera (Shawntel), The Rocky Horror Show (Magenta) and Songs for a New World (Woman 2). Jessica also premiered her first solo cabaret show Sing but Don’t Tell with their spotlight series at Martuni’s in SF. Other favorite projects include Tales of the City at ACT, 8-track Sounds of the 70's at TOSPS and Asphalt Beach at Theatreworks. Jessica is a founder and original member of the San Francisco based cabaret group B.O.O.B.S. (www.boobs-cabaret.com) and a solo recording artist with TIBC.
