Event Details

Hear the newest findings on maternal metabolism, stress, and trauma during pregnancy, the effects on the offspring, and how we can prevent transmission effects.

The keynote address, Maternal metabolism in pregnancy, long-term effects on population health, will be presented by Dr. Patrick M. Catalano, MD, the Director of the Center for Reproductive Health and a Professor of Reproductive Biology at MetroHealth Medical Center.  

Other speakers include Doctors Elissa Epel, PhD; Robert Lustig, MD, MSL; Pathik D. Wadhwa, MD, PhD; Barbara Abrams, DrPH, RD; Barbara Laraia, PhD, MPH, RD; Suzanne Phelan, PhD; and Nancy Adler, PhD.

Stress, Environment, and Weight (SEW) Center and the Center for Obesity Assessment, Study, and Treatment (COAST)

The SEW Center is a collaborative research center with experts from the University of California Berkeley Atkin's Center for Weight and Health, the University of California San Francisco, and the University of California Berkeley.  Research is focused on how what we eat and our physical and psychological environment impact our weight and health.  

The Center for Obesity Assessment, Study, and Treatment is a multidisciplinary research center whose mission is to reduce the prevalence and adverse consequences of obesity, to seek and advance knowledge and understanding of the mechanisms by which stress influences obesity, and to develop effective interventions.
