State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR)
Training Event for Local Government Officials
Experts from New York State Division of Local Government Services and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will provide training on the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR) and the new Environmental Assessment Forms (EAFs) that go into effect this October.
All attendees shall receive an attendance certificate, which will assist Planning Board and ZBA members in demonstrating fulfillment of annual training requirements. Attendance at both sessions will provide four hours of credit.
NOTE - Bottled water will be provided during the break.The ECC Cafeteria will be open between sessions. Please feel free to visit them or bring your own snacks/dinner.
SEQR Basics - 2 Hours (5:00 to 7:00pm)
This introduction to the State Environmental Quality Review Act includes an overview of the environmental assessment form (EAF), Type I, Type II, and Unlisted actions and the sequence of making a positive or negative declaration on a project's potential to have an adverse impact on the environment. The relationship between the administration of local regulations and SEQR will also be discussed.
Code Enforcement Officers may receive 2 hours of In-Service Credit.
SEQR: New EAFs - 2 Hours (7:15 to 9:15pm)
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is releasing the new Environmental Assessment Forms (EAFs) for State Environmental Quality Review on October 7, 2013. This course is an introduction to the new forms, in which the online workbook for the EAFs will be demonstrated. Some instruction will be provided for completing the forms, as well as on the threshold of project that deems the short form more appropriate than the full EAF. There will also be a brief discussion of some changes to the SEQR regulations (6 NYCRR Part 617) that are being considered for the near future.
