Secret Church 14: "The Cross & Everyday Life"
From the moment we wake up in the morning to the moment we lie down to sleep at night, how does the death of Christ on the cross transform every single detail of our day? How does the cross compel daily disciplines like prayer and Bible reading or a regular routine of fasting and worship? How does the cross change the way we view our jobs and vocations throughout the day as well as the way we rest and relax at the end of the day? What, if any, unique effect does the cross have on the ways we spend our time, set our priorities, make our decisions, and love our neighbors? How does the cross change the way we view food and exercise, sports and entertainment in this world? The Bible says, "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). So how do we do that? And how does the cross of Christ inevitably enable us to do that? During this Secret Church, as we explore the implications of the death of Christ for our daily lives, we will discover the exhilarating joy that is found in following Jesus to the glory of God on a moment-by-moment, day-by-day basis.
The Simulcast Experience
Participants will experience six hours of in-depth Bible teaching by David Platt, Senior Pastor of the Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, Alabama. True to his original vision, Platt uses this experience as a platform to increase awareness and urge prayer for believers in hostile nations -- places where a follow of Christ risks losing everything for the sake of Christ.
Location & Parking
The event will be held in our Fellowship Hall, conveniently located on C Avenue, just three blocks east of JFK Boulevard in North Little Rock. Parking is available adjacent to the building in Lots A and B. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.
Each Secret Church session pauses to focus on one particular area of the world or people group where persecution is commonplace. This session's prayer focus is Turkey. Learn more about the need.
Refreshments and Childcare
Due to the length and late time of this event, we are unable to offer childcare. Please grab a bite to eat before you come. Refreshments and beverages will be available throughout the night at no additional cost.
During each session of Secret Church, a collection is taken to help advance the cause of the gospel. This offering is sent through Platt's global mission organization, Radical.net.
Voice of the Martyrs
As has been the case in previous years, we will have a representative from Voice of the Martyrs on-hand to provide you with additional information about how to pray for and encourage the persecuted Church around the world.
