Strategies for Recognizing and Preventing Aggressive Behavior

Elaine Walsh, RN, PhD, PHNCNS-BC

Download, print and bring this handout to this session at the event

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people ages 10-24 in the US. Every nurse needs to be aware of how to recognize adolescents who are at risk for suicide. Dr. Elaine Walsh from the University of Washington School of Nursing will illuminate the problem of youth suicide and review risk factors, warning signs, intervention strategies and prevention steps.

2 - 3 p.m.

The passage of health reform legislation and its implementation are top priorities for the Washington State Nurses Association.  Speaker Sofia Aragon, RN, JD, Senior Governmental Affairs Advisor for WSNA, will review the opportunities and challenges of ACA implementation. She will give examples of how nurses are engaged in efforts to ensure implementation of the ACA, and discuss ongoing opportunities to make health reform a success.

Continuing education certificates will no longer be issued in paper form. Online instructions and evaluation password will be given during the class. Nurse.com Career Fairs

Our Career Fairs are designed to introduce experienced, licensed RNs to regional and national recruiters. The majority of our exhibitors will be attending solely to meet nurses who are currently licensed, have some experience in a nursing setting, and are available to work immediately. If you are not readily available for employment, be prepared that many exhibitors may not accept your resume at this event.

You may still find this event to be beneficial with educational and networking opportunities. Each career fair offers a complete schedule of valuable activities.

Please be aware that the first portion of the exhibit hall hours are restricted to currently licensed RNs who have at least one year or more of experience. Students, new grads and licensed allied health care professionals (other than RNs) may not enter the exhibit hall until noon.
