Amiguitos de La Peña Presents: Asheba
- La Pena Cultural Center, Berkeley CA
Three long time Bay area Singer-Songwriters reflect on love life and aging.
Linda Hirschorn, Gary Lapow and Betsy Rose have been contributing great music to the Bay Area's folk and progressive communities for decades. As part of the "boomer" generation, their songwriting has recently turned toward topics of aging, lasting love (or not!), and deeper reflections on the inner and outer changes that the decades have brought. Together they bring a wealth of musical and personal experience, from singing with children, to leading a successful women's acapella group, to musical activism for peace, justice and the 99%, to explorations of spirituality and the passage of time- timeless music from three friends and seasoned artists.
La Peña is a community cultural center with a national reputation and a global vision that promotes peace, social justice and cultural understanding through the arts, education and social action.
As a welcoming gathering place, La Peña provides opportunities for artists to share diverse cultural traditions, to create and perform their work, and to support and interface with diverse social movements.
Annually, La Peña presents over 200 events with emerging and established artists; organizes an arts education program; produces new works by local artists, presents internationally and nationally renowned artists, and houses a Latin American cafe which complements the organization's mission.
