"Not in Any Job Description: The Unwritten Role of Marketing" - Joe Cullinan, Advisor, Educator, Author
How can marketers support the efforts of founders and CEOs? Entrepreneurial leaders are very bright and demanding. They are often highly technical and do not always understand or respect the marketing function. All too often many over simplify marketing as "If we build it, they will come". What they need at this critical point is a fearless staff to help support them to transform their vision into reality. And marketing’s job is to translate this vision into appropriate messages for both internal and external stakeholders. This presentation will provide practical advice on how to support these visionary leaders in achieving this.
Based in California's Silicon Valley, Joe Cullinane is an executive advisor, consultant, educator, speaker and author who works with executives and entrepreneurs to help them achieve their strategic business goals. He is currently working on a variety of global business development projects, advising a diverse clientele of executives and entrepreneurs, and has recently completed a new book for executives that explains the strategic uses of next-generation internet technologies.

"Because the purpose of business is to create a customer, the business enterprise has two--and only these two--basic functions: marketing and innovation. Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs. Marketing is the distinguishing, unique function of the business." Peter Drucker in "Management: Task, Responsibilities, Practices".
