ABOUT OUR SPEAKER: Mr. Mark Webb, University Health System
Mark Webb was named Senior Vice President of Facilities Administration in 2012, serving previously as Vice President of Facilities Development & Project Management since 2008. He is responsible for University Health System’s $899 million capital improvement program which includes the design and construction of a 420 patient bed hospital tower, a 3,300 space parking garage, 260,000 square foot clinical services building, and extensive renovation of existing facilities to include University Hospital as well at 14 primary/specialty/preventive health centers and four dialysis centers. Mr. Webb also oversees the departments of Protective Services, Facilities, Plant Engineering, Environmental Services and Emergency Preparedness for the Health System.
In 2010, University Health System became South Texas’ first and only Magnet® healthcare organization, a status designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and earned by about six percent of U.S. hospitals. University Health System also includes a non-profit HMO, Community First Health Plans, a non-profit multi-specialty physician practice, Community Medicine Associates, and joint ownership of San Antonio AirLIFE. As one of the Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems in the nation, University Health System ranks in the top one percent of U.S. health organizations for achieving a high level of information technology integration.
Prior to joining University Health System, Mr. Webb served with the City of San Antonio as Director of the Aviation Department at San Antonio International Airport and Stinson Municipal Airport. During that time he was responsible for the $600+ million capital improvement program that included construction of a new terminal, 2,800 space parking garage, and air field improvements.
During his 14-year tenure with the City, he also worked in the Mayor’s Office, City Manager’s Office, Asset Management, and Contract Services Department in various management and executive team roles. While at the City, he worked on the several high profile development projects including the convention center expansion, developed and implemented consistent contract policies and procedures, assisted in the transition of Brooks Air Force Based to Brooks City Base, and provided property management and real estate services.
