Black Girls CODE and Mojo MediaWorks partners during the upcoming South by Southwest Interactive Festival (SXSWi), for the first ever mobile storytelling and web design/coding workshop for girls of color. In this workshop students will get to interview attendees at SXSW, one of the nation's largest annual technology gatherings. The class is called, "Screen>Play: A Weekend iPod Film School and Web Design Workshop" and it takes place on Saturday March 9th at Ballet Austin.
Girls who participate in the "Screen>Play" workshop will get a chance to interview SXSW festival participants alongside traditional journalists. They will scour the festival grounds with iPods to create a film that answers the question, "Why should Black Girls CODE?" Then they will edit their films on iPads and upload it to a website they will design.
The "Screen>Play" workshop fuses the top two trends in educational technology: mobile learning and coding. It's an event not to be missed!
This workshop is for girls ages 13-17 and will start promptly at 10:00AM. Participants do not need to bring their own computers. Access will be provided to a computer workstation during the workshop. Both lunch, snack, and awards will be provided.
Space is limited to sign up soon to secure your spot! Scholarships are available.
