This session will provide an overall look into Windows Azure SQL Database, formally known as SQL Azure. We’ll begin by introducing WASD briefly, explore its architecture, and look at scenarios for developing for, and migrating to, this PaaS platform. We’ll also spend a good portion of time looking at many of the related advanced cloud-ready data services, such as scalability, reporting, and synchronization. We’ll look at some of the differences between both on-premise SQL Server and Windows Azure SQL Database and how you can leverage this relational database service in your environment.

Scott Klein is a Microsoft Technical Evangelist focusing on Windows Azure SQL Database (AKA SQL Azure) and related cloud-ready data services. His entire career has been built around SQL Server. Prior to Microsoft he was a SQL Server MVP for several years, then followed that up by being one of the first 4 SQL Azure MVPs. Scott is the author of over ½ dozen books by both WROX and APress, including Pro SQL Azure. He can be found talking about WASD at events large and small all across the US wherever he can get people to listen.

Food and drinks will be provided by Veredus Corp. As usual there will be SWAG at the end of the meeting.
Our meetings are free and open to the public. The doors open at 6:00 pm and food arrives shortly after that allowing time to grab something to eat and networking with your peers.  This is a secure building so you will need to check in with the guard before proceeding upstairs.  The meeting will start at 6:30 with announcements and open floor discussions followed by the speaker for the night.

Please plan on joining us for the meeting after the meeting where we can network in a more casual environment.
