Scope of the Arizona Nonprofit Sector Report
Monday, March 25, 2013 from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM (MST)
Arizona’s vibrant nonprofit sector includes over 21,000 registered organizations, employs eight percent of the state’s workers, and has continued to grow despite a difficult economy. Over 77 percent of Arizona households make charitable gifts and 25 percent of Arizonans volunteer their time to support causes ranging from educating youth, preserving the natural world, and providing forums for worship, activism, and artistic expression.
At this session the ASU Lodestar Center will introduce Scope of the Arizona Nonprofit Sector, a web-based, interactive tool for understanding and researching nonprofits, including private foundations and grantmaking organizations. Scope of the Arizona Nonprofit Sector provides information on the economic contribution of nonprofits, including employment, revenue, and expenditures, as well as useful data on the immense human resource engine that powers the sector: paid staff, but also volunteer labor, whose economic value equals total annual charitable giving.
