This ticket is for Travel Support for New Jersey residents to attend the SCDAA Advocacy Day in Washington DC. Applicants are responsible for their own transportation arrangements. Lodging will be provided based on double occupancy along with reimbursement not to exceed $100.00 for documented travel costs after attendance has been confirmed.

You may apply for a partial travel scholarship to attend the

SCDAA SICKLE CELL ADVOCACY DAY

April 2-3, 2014

Preference is for New Jersey residents who have sickle cell disease, care for an immediate family member with sickle cell disease, or have volunteered for past SCANJ programs.

These are partial scholarships only and are subject to availability of funds. 

Should you be selected your lodging at the Sheraton hotel will be provided from the SCANJ  based on double occupancy as well as a travel stipend to support your attendance.

Application does not guarantee an award.

The Occasion:

Please join the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. (SCDAA) as we advocate for those affected by Sickle Cell Disease. This year's SCDAA advocacy campaign will continue to strongly focus on the Re-authorization of the Sickle Cell Treatment Act! It will also include promoting stable funding, better healthcare access, expanded programs, and increased education and awareness for Sickle Cell Disease consumers, families and programs throughout our nation. We are looking forward to an exciting event that will feature:

Advocacy Training
Legislative Champion Meetings
Congressional Luncheon (by invitation only)
Collaborative with Federal Partners

Our 2014 Advocacy Day events will take place on April 2nd thru April 3rd. The host hotel for the event is the Sheraton Silver Spring Hotel, 8777 Georgia Ave. Silver Spring, MD 20910.  Advocacy Day is on Capitol Hill, Washington DC.

The Sickle Cell Association of New Jersey

The Sickle Cell Association of New Jersey (SCANJ) is here to help, educate, and advocate in the fight against sickle cell disease.

SCANJ is a 501c3 non profit community based agency established on September 1, 2009 to assist the sickle cell community, especially adults, with non - medical needs such as, support groups, transition, education, access to research, resource sharing, family follow up and other programs that improve the quality of life. 

SCANJ works in partnership with dedicated health care professionals who provide much needed care for the sickle cell community and is open to individuals, sickle cell treatment centers, health care providers and organizations that support sickle cell disease services in the State of New Jersey.
