Scaffolding. . .a variety of instructional techniques designed to build on what is known, and move students to greater understanding. . .By providing support, we help children move from what they know to what they can learn by interacting as an observant facilitator.  This one day conference builds on the basics of best practices in early education, paired with practical application strategies that will help you move your children to new heights in 2014/15.

BFTS approved for up to six hours!!                                                             

Tract One:  Guidance/Curriculum – Build on the positive guidance skills you already have with teaching strategies that help bring out the best in children.  This track offers the best practices that mirror the latest research in guidance and discipline, and includes our feature presentation!

8:00 – 10:00 Proactive Guidance Strategies to Start the Year off right! Part One - Setting the stage for learning begins with good classroomm management strategies.  Learn the five steps necessary for bringing out the best in children and creating a learning enviromnet that offers freedom and choices without total chaos!  You’ll have the opportunity to plan and evaluate your own strategies, as you work through best practices in behavior management.

1:00 – 3:00 Featured Presentation:  Rompin’ Stompin’ and Having Fun – Games, transitions and music to bring out the best in kids!  Like it or not, we compete with the movement of digital technology when it comes to grabbing and holding children’s attention.  This up and moving session will give you great new ideas to add to your treasure chest of ideas for keeping behaviors in check when transitions and schedule changes are trying!

 

 Tract Two –  Program Planning and Curriculum Development - This Collection of Classes will help you build on children’s learning base to take them to the next level of emerging skills.   

8:00 – 10:00 Lite up the new year with Language and Literacy! From the words you say to the books you read and the games you play to build rhymes, vocabulary and fluency, your classroom interactions build a strong base for children to maximize their language potential.  Learn strategies to keep language emerging, and literacy growing.  Discuss how to support your English as a second language learners as well!

1:00 – 3:00 - Designing an Environment that  Brings out the potential in Children – Take a fresh look at the experiences  your children have in their classrooms as you begin to plan for the upcoming year.  Explore what research tells us about how what we do in curriculum impacts children’s learning, and plan your program to bring out their full potential. Come away with picture ideas to build on what you already have to create amazing environments for children.

 

Tract Three:  Management Sessions:   Scaffolding isn’t just for children. . .Build on what you already know with management training designed to take you to the next level!  You’ll find Leadership Tips, Most Wanted Customer Service Plan, and Marketing tips for Building Enrollment.

8:00 – 10:00 Leadership starts at the Top!  Building a Strong Team! – Staff are either your biggest asset or your biggest liability.  Learn tips for building a cohesive teacher team.  Learn the dynamics of a leader that others want to follow and put in place a plan to make 2014/15 build on past successes to be the best ever!

10:15 – 12:15 Customer Service that Sells! Take a look at your plan for amazing your current and potential clients in 2011. You’ll ask questions and brainstorm answers to help dazzle your customers:  Who are they? What do they want?  What do they need? How do you give it to them better than your competition??   This interactive workshop will give you a definite set of plans to add to your 2011 strategies!

1:00 – 3:00 Marketing Tips for Building Enrollment -  Today’s parent grew up in the world of technology. They are more likely to check out your website than to call for questions. They prefer a referral to a marketing ad.   Test your strategies for enrolling in today’s market against what the experts say, and come away with ideas to build your enrollment numbers.

 

Tract Four:  Basics  - Build on a strong foundation  by focusing on the fundamentals of Health & Safety – for teachers working with young children in group care settings.

8:00 – 10:00 Child Abuse: Recognition & Reporting – Learn the warning signs of child abuse and neglect; the legal reporting requirements for teachers, directors, and owners, and how to protect yourself from being accused of abuse.  

10:15 to 12:15 Safety and Injury Control- Keep the little ones in your care safe and reduce liabilities by discovering these "safety musts" for the classroom, the playground and field trips. Participants in this class will also leave with a better understanding of the DHR reporting requirements for accidents and injuries.  

1:00 – 3:00 Infectious Diseases:  Recognition & Prevention - Proper hand washing and diapering procedures are just a few of the sanitary practices addressed in this course to help early childhood professionals learn how to reduce the risk of spreading illnesses in child care.

 

Refund/Cancellation Policy and Photo Release: All refunds will be in the form of training credit. No monetary refunds. Cancellations must be in writing and faxed 48 hours prior to the scheduled seminar. Teachers who miss training due to a documentable emergency may submit a request for credit the first business day after the missed training by calling our office. Approved requests will be issued a credit confirmation number. Undocumented no-shows will not receive training credit. In the unlikely event that Early Connections has to postpone or reschedule a training event, registrants will receive double training credit. No monetary refunds will be issued. Please note that photos may be taken and used for promotional materials at this training. If you do not want your photo reproduced, inform your instructor in writing at the event. Childcare policy: To maintain a high quality training event, please make child care arrangements in advance. Children are not allowed in training sessions!
