SCA ConSERVE NYC: March Madness on the Brooklyn Greenway
Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM (EDT)
Join the Student Conservation Association for our March ConSERVE NYC event on the Brooklyn Greenway!
The Brooklyn Greenway is a planned 14-mile landscaped route for pedestrians and cyclists along the waterfront of Brooklyn. When complete, the Greenway will connect neighborhood parks and green spaces from Greenpoint to Bay Ridge. At this month's ConSERVE NYC event, volunteers will remove invasive English ivy that is strangling trees along two sections of the Greenway, and will prepare a new section for spring planting by mulching and spreading compost.
This event is part of a yearlong series of public service projects hosted by SCA across New York City. With weekend conservation projects at new sites each month, ConSERVE NYC offers volunteers the opportunity to help build resiliency in New York City's public lands—and to network with others who share an interest in urban conservation.
