MATCHMAKING INSTRUCTIONS AND TIPS
One-on-One Matchmaking Session Instructions
- We encourage all small businesses to arrive at the registration early with plenty of business cards to begin networking. Small Businesses should engage in initial conversation with targeted companies/organizations to learn more about them and what is necessary to do business with them. Since interviews with key companies will be on a first come-first serve basis, arriving early will assist in obtaining a One-on-One spot with the key companies/organizations of choice.
-Sign-up sheets will be available to offer opportunities for 5-7 minute pitch sessions with small businesses that can meet prime companies’/contracting officers’ procurement goals
- Time slots will be arranged in 10 minute intervals to allow for pitch and close out discussion or have preliminary review of the pitch session
-Matchmaking sessions will convene in separate rooms to allow for privacy of discussion.
Helpful Tips for One-on-One Matchmaking Sessions
- Review the list of participating primes/NASA civil servants and see where there may be opportunity to offer your product or service
- Schedule time to pitch your business to those organizations first.
- Dress to impress! This may be your first opportunity to make a lasting impression!
- Bring your business cards! If you don't have any, have some made prior to the event.
- Come prepared with your best "elevator speech" explaining how you can meet the targeted company's procurement or supply chain diversification needs.
- Get the names of the representatives you spoke to and the Division/Department in which they work.
- If there does not seem to be a match for an opportunity at this point, inquire about how to make a match. Ask, "What do I need to do in order to do business with you?"
