All Go West is dedicated to spreading this powerful community vibe as well as highlighting local businesses, artists and nonprofits. This year we are emphasizing the savory talents of West Asheville with an opportunity to sample its diverse culinary styles simultaneously.
Altamont Brewing Company
Altamont Brewing Company was conceived and built out of the pockets of Gordan Kear and Ben Wiggins. Originally serving local craft beers when they opened in 2010 they are now brewing with a 7 barrel system made by Premier Stainless in San Diego. They are brewing the full spectrum of ales and continuously have 4 of their beers on tap as well as 12 guest taps.
Hops and Vines
Hops and Vines is the only place in western North Carolina to stock up on specialty beer, wines and any homebrewing supplies in one stop. Hops and Vines offers a world class selection and personalized friendly service while maintaining the laid back West Asheville neighborhood feel. From award winning homebrew recipes to unique small production wines to local brewery favorites, Hops and Vines has something for every taste.
Isis Restaurant and Music Hall
Isis’ Executive Chef Mike Mahoney and Chef Jon McGregor are joined by a great crew in the kitchen who highlight seasonal products and utilize local produce whenever possible. With a rotating menu every 6 weeks or so, this family owned business cares greatly about it’s local West Asheville roots, and is focused on creating quality food in an engaging atmosphere.
The Admiral had little doubt they could cultivate a successful dive bar, but they aspired to create an unexpected restaurant that thrives on it's talent and creativity. With the procurement of a modest cinderblock building in West Asheville, The Admiral has succeeded in serving delicious food without having to hold on to convention, all in an atmosphere that lacks the restraints of standard technique.
Sunny Point Cafe
Sunny Point Cafe, an independently owned restaurant has been growing their loyal customer base since 2003 and some of their own food in their garden since 2009. Focusing on the “slow food” movement, Sunny Point concentrates on quality ingredients with a West Asheville flair, and nightly specials prepared fresh and priced right.Breakfast might be what they are known for, but dinner is their new passion.
The Lucky Otter
For 9 years, The Lucky Otter has been an affordable neighborhood place with satisfying food. Everything at the Lucky Otter is made in house, including their chips, and potent margarita mix. Lucky Otter sources a lot of their produce locally, and provides all Asheville drafts (other thank PBR, which they feel is an acceptable exception anywhere). Lucky Otter is committed to maintaining their community vibe while offering food worth coming back for.
Short Street Cakes
In 2006, Georgia native Jodi Rhoden began baking cakes for friends from her home in Asheville, North Carolina using traditional Southern cake recipes and local ingredients. Shortly after, Short Street Cakes was born. Three years later, her business has grown to occupy the sweet little Cake Shop at 225 Haywood Road. Jodi has since become the author of the award-winning blog, My Life in Cake, and the book, Cake Ladies: Celebrating a Southern Tradition, a collection of life stories and recipes from Southern cake ladies. Jodi’s bustling local business has earned the reputation of being the best bakery in the region to procure fresh, natural wedding cakes, cupcakes, and birthday cakes, made from scratch and with love.
West Asheville Lounge and Kitchen
The West Asheville Lounge and Kitchen (better known as WALK) has upscale bar food with a comfortable atmosphere, great prices, and a good draft selection. WALK occupies the location that was formally known as The Rocket Club, but is quickly establishing their own appeal with unique specials that include fois gras on burgers, coconut prawns, beef carpaccio and more. The WALK has your local gasto-pub feel with all the right West Asheville flair.
