Contrary to popular belief, suicide is more common in rural areas than in large cities. This session explains the suicide trends in play in northeastern Tennessee. Mr. Ridgway will also discuss an innovative project to prevent suicide in our state’s healthcare and behavioral health facilities.

Depression is not a normal part of the aging process. This presentation will help caregivers and healthcare professionals respond to severe depression and/or suicidal behavior among older adults.

Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network

The Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network (TSPN) is the statewide public-private organization responsible for implementing the Tennessee Strategy for Suicide Prevention as defined by the 2001 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention.

Our grass-roots association which works across the state to eliminate the stigma of suicide and educate communities about the warning signs of suicide, with the ultimate intention of reducing suicide rates in the state of Tennessee.
