The focus of our second session will be Examinining Student Work
As educators, how are we implementing practices and strategies that support our students
to gather, examine, and communicate information, as they engage in the process of
constructing explanations and evaluating their ideas? Join us in conversation as we reflect
and share current research ideas and practices.
Keynote speakers: Anna Richert (Faculty Director), Carrie Wilson (Executive Director), and Claire Bove (Associate Director), Mills Teacher Scholars
Teachers are swimming in data that provide them information about student thinking. But what is the process for making sense of these data in a systematic way given the pace and demands of teaching? What kind of data gives us the best information about how students do and do not understand concepts we teach? In this session we will introduce the Mills Teacher Scholars model of teacher-led inquiry as a method to understanding student thinking.
To get the most out of the offered Math, Science, and Writing workshops please bring 3-4 samples of your own student work.
Keynote Presentation from 9:00 am to 10:15 am with Math, Science, and Writing workshops to follow.
