With an eclectic mix of funk, blues and a touch of jazz, singer/songwriter Jaz James' music is described "soulful pop." Born in Los Angeles, Jaz was raised on The Beatles and Motown, and at 19 her gypsy spirit moved her to Europe and India where she performed with street musicians and artists. Fueled and inspired by her travels and a few heartbreaks along the way, Jaz took to the piano and began writing songs. She recorded her first EP "World's Too Pretty," produced and engineered by Scott Smith (Grizzly Bear, weezer, José González) at the Village Recorder in Santa Monica in 2012. Backed by a band of funky jazz players, James performs her infectious melodies for a growing group of followers as well as at The Standard Hotel Hollywood’s Soundcheck.
