When & Where
Simmons College Spectrum Scholars
- The Spectrum Scholarship Program is ALA’s national diversity and recruitment effort designed to address the need for more ethnic librarians within the profession.
- Spectrum has awarded over 730 scholarships of $6,500 each to students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to academic excellence, the library profession, and community service. Spectrum Scholars work in all types of libraries—school, public, academic, medical, and special—and have taken on leadership roles throughout the profession.
- Libraries and librarians change the lives of the people they serve. By providing books and information resources, training and instruction, programs, and literacy services, libraries and librarians empower communities. Spectrum helps ensure libraries continue to serve the nation’s changing communities.
