In anticipation of the Spring 2014 Local Shuttle Call for Projects, the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) invites you to attend the Local Shuttle Workshop. This workshop will provide an overview of the Local Shuttle Program, funding process, available resources and best practices.
What is the Local Shuttle Program?
The goal of the Local Shuttle Program is to fund operating projects that meet local mobility needs and/or provide access to regional transit services in San Mateo County. Projects in the Local Shuttle Program should contribute to the overall goals of the Measure A Program to reduce commute corridor congestion, make regional connections, enhance safety and meet local mobility needs. Eligible projects include the operation of shuttle buses that are typically larger than a van, but smaller than a full-sized bus.
What will be covered at this workshop?
During the workshop, presenters will discuss:
- Local Shuttle Program Overview
- Shuttle Best Practices, including Planning, Marketing, and Operations
- Funding Process
- Available Resources, including Technical Assistance
The Local Shuttle Workshop is free and open to the public. Anyone interested in local shuttles as a mobility solution is encouraged to attend. This includes employers and governmental organizations within San Mateo County. Past and current sponsors are also encouraged to attend.

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority's office is easily accessible via public transportation. The office is just a 5 minute walk from the San Carlos Caltrain Station and the SamTrans ECR El Camino Real/San Carlos Avenue bus stop.

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority
The San Mateo County Transportation Authority was formed in 1988 with the passage of the voter-approved half-cent sales tax for countywide transportation projects and programs, known as Measure A.
The TA’s role is to administer the proceeds from Measure A to fund a broad spectrum of transportation-related projects and programs.
