I'm excited to announce the first event of The San Francisco Internet of Things Meetup!
We are extremely fortunate to have Jason Johnson, the founder of the Internet of Things Consortium as our first speaker. Jason is the co-founder of a stealth startup, Rethink Books, and TEDxSF, as well as a mentor for Founders Institute and multiple startups. A few weeks ago during CES, Jason announced the IoT Consortium to provide opportunities for hardware, software, and service providers to collaborate on ways to make connected devices more rich and rewarding for today’s consumer.
(Feb 17 Update) We are adding Kevin Ashton to our speaker line-up this Wednesday. Kevin Ashton is known for inventing the term "The Internet of Things. He co-founded the Auto-ID Center at MIT, which created a global standard system for RFID and other sensors. Ashton subsequently became a VP at RFID company ThingMagic and later co-founded and became CEO of Zensi, a cleantech startup which was acquired by Belkin International. He now serves as General Manager of Belkin's cleantech Division.
Jason and Kevin will do an expert panel on the state of Internet of Things movement. After our panel and discussions, we will go to the District bar around the corner for a round of drinks.
