Hearken back to a Marion Davies-era costume ball with
this Latin dance party featuring LA's favorite Brazilian songstress. Come
prepared to get a groove on – extra points for beads and feathers worn! Samba
lessons given before and during the show. Please note that seating will be extremely limited as we will be clearing the room for a dance floor.
The unique singer and lyricist Kátia Moraes began her career in Rio de Janeiro in the 80's with her energetic band "O Espirito da Coisa". Since then she has performed and/or recorded with top Brazilian acts like Sergio Mendes and Airto Moreira, as well as with Latin Grammy nominee Alex Acuña, Justo Almario's Tolú, and Dutch acid jazz band Praful. She released her first U.S. CD Ten Feet and the Sun in 1996 with the Brasil Nuts, followed in 1999 with Ginga with Sambaguru, and the 2003 album Live by Kufala Records. In 2009 Sambaguru released Tribo. Kátia is currently singing with Sambaguru, Pure Samba, Brazilian Hearts, and for the Viver Brasil Dance Company.

Directions: The Beach House is located at 415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica, CA 90402 on the west side of Pacific Coast Highway, a half mile north of the California Incline and a half mile south of Chautauqua Blvd. Plenty of public parking is available - enter off PCH at the Beach House Way traffic light. The facility is easily accessible by foot or bike from the beach bike path, although the Beach closes at sunset. There is ample bike parking at racks throughout the site - remember to bring your own lock.
Parking: There is an hourly/daily parking charge at the park and pay machines available in three areas of the ACBH parking lot. Weekday fees are $4/hr and 8/day; plan to pay for two hours and please check the website for details.

Please note that there is bike parking available onsite - bring a lock. Car parking is available and rates vary from weekdays to weekends and season to season.
Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the event; reservations are released then and late seating is not guaranteed. Although Eventbrite's automatic email encourages you to print your ticket out, at this time we only require you to give your last name at the door. If an event is at capacity, we will generally open a waitlist online and you can sign up. We will not contact you; just plan to arrive by 15 minutes prior to the event and we will assess unclaimed reservations then.
