Come and join us in our first annual "ROCC the RUN!" RUNNING OVER CHILDHOOD CANCER on Sunday, May 19, 2013. Please help us as we raise much needed awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research! All proceeds will go directly to Arms Wide Open childhood Cancer Foundation to fund less toxic treatment for childhood cancer research.
This event is for the entire family...it's a FAMILY FUN RUN/WALK and we would love to have the entire community supporting this very important cause. Even if you are unable to attend, please still consider making a donation. No amount is too small and our cancer children need your help.
** Gilroys very own hometown hero, Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero has confirmed his attendance for this worthy cause!* *
The Entry fee is only $25.00 and will include light refreshments and a lot of fun!!! In addition to the 5k, we will have a "childrens fun run" for kids 12 and under. The fun run is only $10 and each child will receive a ROCC tshirt, if registered before May 15! We will also have face painting, jump house, and balloon twisters as well as one or two "Super Heroes" mingling with participants!
You are not required to solicit donations as a participant but the top 3 "runners/walkers" who bring in the most money will receive fantastic prizes. Please plan to arrive by 8:00 a.m. as 5k run begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. and the "Kids fun run" will start at 10:00 a.m..
My son, Ty Murray, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in 2008 at 16 months old. He had major surgery, chemo, radiation, stem cell transplant, and very painful antibodies all before he turned 3 years old. My son has gone through so much and we know his type of cancer is very aggressive and if he relapses...there is NO CURE.
So we continue to FIGHT to raise awareness and funds so that other families will never hear those life changing words, "Your child has cancer." Ty is now 6 years old and still has to receive quarterly scans to ensure his cancer has not returned and we know our life can change with just one scan....so we will do our part in the battle against pediatric cancer and hold onto HOPE that Ty will remain "no evidence of disease."
Thank you for your support
