run OM cincy
Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM (EDT)
What It Is
run OM cincy is a one-of-a-kind event designed to celebrate Cincinnati! Three fun runs, starting from Washington Park, Newport, and Hyde Park Square, will converge on Great American Ballpark, where we will join together for an empowering yoga class on the outfield grass. The entire community is invited! Do. Not. Miss. This!
- What's this epic event gonna cost me?
Nothing. Nada. Not one of your hard-earned dimes. The only thang you need to brang is yo' fun self!
- Running's kinda hard. What if I don't want to run?
No problem. If you just want to join us for yoga, click on the Just Yoga ticket, then meet at Great American at 8 am on 9.28.13. We'll get our flow on from 8:30 am - 9:30 am.
- But say running IS my jam. Say I'm like a cross between Forrest Gump and Usain Bolt. Then what?
Run the 6 mile route from Hyde Park Square! Click the Hyde Park ticket to register, then meet at lululemon (3500 Michigan Ave.) at 6:15 am on 9.28.13, ready to pound the pavement with your new best friends.
- 6 miles is a lot. I'm more of a 3.2 mile kind of guy/gal. What should I do?
Run the 3.2 mile route from Newport! Click the Newport ticket to register, then meet in the Goodwill parking lot on the corner of 6th and Riviera at 6:30 am on 9.28.13, soon to be known as The Day the Reds Got Roga'd.
- You think I'm running 3.2 miles! That's cuckoo bananas! But I'm a heck of a walker...
Run or walk the 1.2 mile route from Washington Park! Click on the Washington Park ticket to register, then meet at Washington Park at 7 am on 9.28.13, itching to tie one (mile) on with your fellow Cincinnatians.
- After the event, how am I supposed to get back to my car?
For the Hyde Park runners, two words: Magic Bus. Shuttle buses from the stadium to Hyde Park Square will be provided, free of charge. For Newport and Washington Park peeps, two more words: Public Transportation. Or three: Walking is nice. The Newport route is a 1.6 mile walk back, and is on the Southbank shuttle route. Washington Park is a beautiful 1.2 mile walk back and is on the #1 Metro route.
- Is this a time-chipped race? I totally want to set a new 5k PR!
We totally want you to set big goals and PR too, but since this is NOT a time-chipped race, the only person keeping track of your exact time is you.
- Hey bud, can I rock some ear buds while I run?
Unfortunately, JT and Kelly Clarkson will have to wait. Since we will be utilizing public sidewalks and not closed roads, you'll need your ears open to follow the instructions of your run leaders. Don't worry; great conversation with a fellow runner rocks too!
- I have problems with commitment. So I don't want to sign up now, but I might show up to run on the day of the event. Is that cool?
First off, committing to things is cool; it builds character. Second, if you want to run, you must register online so that we can have an accurate headcount of our runners. Third, if you decide last minute you want to come to the yoga practice, please do! (It's freaking yoga inside the Reds Stadium! Just sign up now already!)
- Do I need to bring a yoga mat? I'm thinking it would be kind of awkward to run with.
Yeah, us too. So if you're running, we will have mats available for you to borrow. However, if you aren't running, it's BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat)!
- What else do I need to bring?
Please bring your printed-out ticket so we know you've signed a waiver. Translation: WE need to know that YOU know all the fun you're about to get into.
- So, uh, do dudes do yoga?
Uh, yes, Dude. Dudes do yoga, women do yoga, kids do yoga, families do yoga, (downward) dogs do yoga, even certain cats do yoga. Come one, come all! But please, no ferrets. Ferrets freak people out.
- Are there going to be Reds players at this thing, practicing yoga WITH us?
Great question! Why don't you ask one of them? Stop reading these FAQs, register for the event, and tweet your face off to Brandon Phillips to see if he'll commit to being there.
- Are we setting some sort of world record for yoga here?
Yes! One of our goals is to break the world record for "Most people performing a headstand." The current record is 265 people, and we plan to blow that out of the water! So start practicing your headstands! And don't sweat it if standing on your dome in a large group of people doesn't light your inner fire; again, this yoga class is for all levels!
- Could this possibly get any cooler?
Yes again! The Reds are offering discounted tickets for the 9.28 game vs. the Pirates, which you can purchase by clicking here:
AND some of our favorite yoga studios in town (Yoga Bar, Elemental Om, Move Your Hyde, Moksha, Drishtiq, Lifetime Fitness, Simply Power Yoga) are offering one free class with the presentation of a ticket from the 9.28 game. (Please sign up online where possible.) Baseball + Yoga; we just remixed the remix.
- This is wild. You people are wild. Who do I talk to if I have more questions, especially if all this witty banter here is just NOT doing it for me?
Questions? Concerns? We love feedback! Call lululemon Kenwood Towne Center at 513-791-2524 or lululemon Hyde Park Square at 513-321-1656. Better yet, stop into either store to chat in person. You'll get free hi-fives, reassurance, and then more hi-fives. And if you haven't yet liked lululemon athletica Kenwood and lululemon athletica Hyde Park Square on Facebook, do it now! We'll be adding more info to those sites - about the specific routes, post-event parties, Instagram and Twitter pics via #runomcincy, etc. - as we countdown to 9.28.13!
