Rosh Chodesh Group
Monday, April 23, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (PDT)
Come celebrate, with the women of Makom, Rosh Chodesh Iyyar, the new month of Iyyar. This is the month between Pesach and Shavuot, the holiday that commemorates the Jewish people's receiving the Torah.
During our ceremony, we will explore the ways that we move from one stage of life to the next, from places of relative innocence to greater maturity. We will also explore ways and times in which we gain wisdom, and how we pass that wisdom along. Music, poetry reading and prayers are all parts of our ritual.
Come join us, and please extend an invitation to a friend to participate in our circle.
Please bring toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, soap, etc., that we will donate to a homeless shelter as a group.
Makom Ohr Shalom
Makom Ohr Shalom is a diverse community committed to outreach and inclusiveness in prayer, Torah study and everything else we do. We honor Jewish traditions of meditation and spirituality by including silent meditation, guided visualization, chanting, and original music in our services, together with traditional prayers. Members engage in social justice work together, celebrate each others joyous milestones and support one another in times of sorrow. “Makom Ohr Shalom” means “a place for the light of peace.” Thus, the name of our synagogue reminds us of our best spiritual vision and aspiration.
