ROLLING STONES TRIBUTE: GIMME SHELTER w/ STANLEY BOOTH
GIMME SHELTER: Called the greatest rock film ever made, this landmark documentary follows the Rolling Stones on their notorious 1969 U.S. tour. When three hundred thousand members of the Love Generation collided with a few dozen Hells Angels at San Francisco's Altamont Speedway, Direct Cinema pioneers David and Albert Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin were there to immortalize on film the bloody slash that transformed a decade's dreams into disillusionment.
The film also includes interviews and notes from music journalist STANLEY BOOTH, who has recently re-located to Athens, and will be in attendance for a book signing and discussion of the film and his extensive work with important figures in the world of music.
Co-Presented with the UGA LIbraries, with catered reception prior to the film, sponsored by Mimi Maumus, Pulaski Heights BBQ, and custom Anniversary cakes made for the event by Stephanie Ordon!
And after-party benefit with live music at Little Kings Club, featuring David Barbe and the Quick Hooks, Bo Bedingfield, Eric Carter and Daniel Hutchens, Don Chambers, Clay Leverett, Dave Marr, Hardy Morris, Pilgrim, Thayer Sarrano, and special guests.
