Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (PDT)
Mobile User Experience Tear Down with Jason Shah - Mobile adoption has exploded. The field is now fiercely competitive, and the design of mobile user experiences is key to successful user adoption. By analyzing market leaders, we can learn where and how to improve the designs of our own web and mobile applications. Jason will walk through applications by major players such as Pandora, Walgreens, and ESPN, exploring where they succeed and fail in their UI. He will also be looking at analytics and modern design tools, like HeatData and others, that can aid us in making the necessary decisions to improve user experiences on mobile.
Jason Shah is the creator of HeatData, a mobile gesture analytics platform for tracking how people interact with websites and apps on touch devices. Jason is also a Product Manager at Yammer, where he focuses on building out new features for the leading enterprise social network. Prior to Yammer, Jason founded INeedAPencil.com, sold to CK12 in 2011, which provides free online education tools to students from low-income families. He blogs regularly at blog.jasonshah.org and tweets shorter thoughts @jasonyogeshshah.
Get Started with UI Design On The Right Foot with Luca Candela - There are some amazingly well designed apps and websites nowadays… but most of them just aren't that good. Luca spent the last three years reviewing websites and mobile applications for the "UX Eye for the developer guy", and is tired of seeing the same mistakes repeated over and over again! Good news is, he'll be exploring some fundamental laws of design in a format that's easily digestible and applicable right away.
Luca Candela is Sr. Product Manager at Metamarkets (www.metamarkets.com), a big data analytics platform for the advertising industry. Prior to Metamarkets, Luca worked for Sencha where he helped shape and launch Sencha Architect, the revolutionary mobile development tool for HTML5. He rarely blogs at www.luckymethod.com but tweets whatever he feels like @luckymethod.
