Rocking Out To Help 4,800+ Have Better Lives in Downtown Orlando
Rock For Hunger Fest 4 Brings 14+ Bands and Over 1,000 Fans Together to Rock For the Orlando Homeless on Saturday, October 10th.
Not too many people think of Orlando as a hub or destination for the homeless, but the Downtown area is home to over 4,800 homeless individuals. Rock For Hunger wants to lift their spirits and bring their dreams back with the 4th installment of their annual music festival, Rock For Hunger Fest.
Rock For Hunger Fest 4 will take place on Pine Street in Downtown Orlando for an
evening of music and peace in our community. With music ranging from the reggae and
dub influenced Burnin’ Smyrnans and Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds to the worldly vibes of KG
and the Band to iRock For Hunger Auditions winner InnerCoastal, this all ages event has
sounds and inspiration for everyone.
Tickets for the event are $10 with proceeds going to the 501(c)3 organization that helps
the local homeless community as well as children living in poverty find their passions
and dreams through music, art, creativity and lifestyle design. Rock For Hunger aims to
open their first Dreams Center in January of 2010 with proceeds from the event.
This year sponsors ranging from Budweiser, the Orlando Sentinel, the Downtown
Development Board, Vitamin Water, Gibson Guitars as well as all the venues are hoping
to bring a positive spin on homelessness in the community. Rock For Hunger’s Vice
President Greg Rollett states, “By helping the homeless build back their confidence and
provide them the resources and inspiration to get back on their feet, they will be able to
find sustainable employment, thus spending more money in our community from the
coffee shops to barber shops to malls and grocery stores. This concert is a way to
promote that energy and spirit.”
