River City Challenge
Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (EDT)
What is the River City Challenge?
Jacksonville's first paddle race taking place downtown on the St. John’s River to benefit the North Florida Land Trust. Imagine a day filled with excitement, competition, camaraderie, festivities, great food and music! River City Challenge will be broken up into two race courses.
First place overall in the 8-mile race wins $500 and a $500 paddle from Epic. Additional cash and prizes.
The first course is a 3-mile race to San Marco and the other course is an 8-mile race circumnavigating Exchange Island, both beginning and ending at the St. Johns Marina Boat Ramp next door to River City Brewery.
The race will be held May 5, 2012, starting promptly at 10 am. Friendship Fountain serves as the backdrop to outfitters and local businesses selling equipment, providing instruction and educating people on paddle sports.
Exhibits will also include many of our area’s conservation-minded organizations, food, music, and festivities for the whole family!
