San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
On November 8, 2013 one of the strongest typhoons recorded in history ravaged the Central Philippines. Over 5,000 people are reported dead, hundreds of thousands have been displaced, many are still missing and livelihoods have been completely swept away.
In solidarity with communities most impacted by Super Storm Yolanda, TIGRA is hosting a fundraising event to support the repair and re-building of boats for fisherfolk in the communities of Bantayan Island and Northern Cebu for the Bantayan Back to Sea Project. Rising Hopes will hold space to honor those who lost their lives and for those struggling through the aftermath.
Join us for a Community Altar; Sea vessel offerings by Balik sa Dagat Bangka Journey; Live performances by Aimee Suzara, Cynthia Alexander, Alexis Canillo, La Peña Community Chorus; Video and LiveStream of fisherfolk from Bantayan Island, Cebu
Co-sponsored by: TIGRA, FACES & Balik sa Dagat Bangka Journey
$20 at the door. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. All proceeds go to support Bantayan Back to Sea Project.
