Event Details

Saturday, May 3, 10am - 12:30pm

Hosted by Scott Kennedy, Mission's Athletic Director, and RISE

We plan for this to become an annual fundraiser to help raise money to sustain and expand RISE's yoga program at Mission High School and other partner schools.

You can help us reach our fundraising goal of $10,000 by participating in this event, or by making a donation if you aren't able to attend but would like to support our work with youth.

Who We Are

In January of 2012, we launched a small pilot program at Mission High School in collaboration with Scott Kennedy and the Mission High PE Department that brought yoga and wellness workshops to students during their P.E. period.  They loved it. Students from all walks of life told us they felt more relaxed through out the day, they slept better, improved their diets, paid more attention in class, and their relationships with friends and family improved. The positive feeback we received from students and teachers reinforced our belief that inner transformation is the first step to creating change in our world.  All funds raised at the at the Yogathon will help to keep our program going and growing at Mission High School and other partner schools that serve at-risk youth.

How Do I Register?

All you need to do is sign up and show up! The registration fee for this event is $25 through April 20 ($30 after April 20). There is a tab to pay the registration fee, and also to make a donation if you would like to contribute more than the registration fee. You do not need to bring a ticket to the event if you register online.

While not a requirement for participation in the event, we encourage each participant to try to raise $108 to support our programming in schools.  This can be achieved by finding sponsors for each sun salutation that you do: $1 per salutation = $108!  Ask friends and family to make tax-deductible pledges in support of your sun salutes through the RISE website donation page (please click on the "Donate Today" button at the top of the page). We will have prizes for those who raise $108 and for the top fundraiser!

Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with detailed instructions to guide you through fundraising. If you have any questions about how to set a personal fundraising goal in support of RISE, please do not hesitate to contact

This is an all-levels event. You do not need to do all 108 salutations! We encourage participants to be where they are and treat their bodies lovingly.

Day of event:

Please bring your own yoga mat and arrive at 9:30am for check-in and to get settled, as the salutations will begin promptly at 10:00am.

RISE Yoga for Youth

RISE empowers adolescents to be agents of change in the world.

Through the physical practice of yoga, wellness education, and community building, students develop inner resources to respond to life’s challenges in constructive ways.

Our innovative curriculum has proven to increase attendance and retention rates, improve academic achievement, and help students manage stress. The curriculum incorporates physical exercise, breath work, and activities that foster social and emotional learning. Stress management techniques and mindfulness exercises are an integral part of each class, so students can lead healthier, happier, resilient lives.
