Rio+20: Women Crash the Party!
Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM (PDT)
Sun, sand, and the birds and bees? What's not to like? When thousands of world leaders descend on Rio in two weeks for the momentous Earth Summit, nicknamed Rio+20, women will be crashing the party to talk about sex. Yep. You heard that right. What's the connection between a bureaucratic UN event on the environment and women's power and reproductive health? Well, you can't have sustainable, just, thriving communities without strong, empowered women, access to modern birth control for all who want it, and the healthy families that come when women are able to plan their pregnancies.
Next week, three powerful women leaders head to Rio+20 to talk about this very thing, but they're here to talk with us just before they go. Join Carmen Barroso, Musimbi Kanyoro and Sandeep Bathala for a call on Tuesday, June 12th at 8 a.m. Pacific/11 a.m. Eastern to learn more about the intersection of these important issues. Everyone who attends the call will receive exclusive multi-media content from on the ground in Rio, provided by our panelists as they hit the streets and conference rooms of the Earth Summit.
