Ring in the New Year with TXwine Twitter Tuesday and Jessina Dupuy of Texas Monthly, January 3, 2012!

Denise Fraser (@DeniseFraser) and I (@VintageTexas) hope you can join us for the next TXWine Twitter Tuesday at 7 p.m. (central time) Tuesday, January 3rd. We will have Jessica Dupuy of Texas Monthly (@jdewps), with us to taste and discuss a selection of Texas wines.

Jessica Dupuy is a freelance writer who has written on Texas Wine for Texas Monthly for the past two years. She has also written on Texas Wine for National Geographic Traveler, Imbibe, Texas Highways and recently released her first cookbook, Uchi: The Cookbook, in conjunction with James Beard Award winning Executive Chef Tyson Cole.

In August 2011 she received her Level 1 Sommelier Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers and is studying to receive her Certified Specialist of Wine in 2012. Having just finished the Salt Lick Cookbook, which will be released in the Fall of 2012, Dupuy has selected a few Texas wines to pair with classic barbecue.

Brisket (smokey and juicy) - Llano Estacado Winery Cellar Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 (~$15)

Sausage (the more peppery, the better) - McPherson Cellars Rose of Syrah, 2009 (~$10)

Pork ribs (spare or baby back, best with a good glaze on them.) - Texas Hills Toro de Tejas Tempranillo, 2009 (~15)

Dessert: Pecan Pie, Bannana Pudding, or Peach Cobbler - Duchman Family Winery Orange Muscat, 2009 (~$11)

For the January 3rd Twitter Tuesday, please pick up some your favorite barbecue (brisket, sausage, ribs and/or dessert) and one, two or more of these fine Texas wines give us your thoughts on how the following wines pair. Another option is to taste your BBQ and Texas wine when convenient during the holidays prior to the 3rd and then comment during the Twitter tasting on the 3rd. These wines should be available at Spec's, Central Market, Whole Foods or from the respective wineries.

Representatives from the wineries will also join our online tasting to answer your questions about the wines. So grab some barbecue and wine and join us for our Texas wine chat and tasting.  Please remember to use the Twitter hashtag #TXwine.
