REUSE OF PLASTIC BAGS FOR GOOD
Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM (CDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
There are many problems associated with plastic grocery bags. They can cause harm to pets and wildlife, clog sewers, and can last hundreds of years in landfills. Many cities around the world tax their use, while some have banned plastic bags altogether.
In this workshop, participants will learn how to repurpose these plastic bags. Eric Ridder and Ashley Winkiel, two founding memebers of Plarn DePaul, will lead this workshop on how to create plastic yarn, (a.k.a. "plarn") and crochet basic projects such as welcome mats and sleeping pads. Crochet hooks size Q will be supplied, but participants may bring their own if they would like.
