Event Details

What is reRoute?

Our generation is poised to inherit a world in unprecedented system crisis. Inequality, poverty, oppression in all its forms, climate change, corporate control of our democracy, political gridlock—these are symptoms of interconnected economic, political and ecological system failures. In our communities and on our campuses, we are voicing our discontent. We are saying “no” to outdated thinking, ecological destruction and structural violence. We are fighting with all we’ve got against broken systems, but we must also articulate our vision for the future. We must be clear about what we are fighting for.

reRoute is an opportunity to ask "if the path we're on is failing us, what is the alternative route — and how do we get there?"

Join us in New York City from July 19-21, 2013 for a convergence to build youth and student power for a just and sustainable economy. This event will bring together experienced New Economy visionaries with student and youth leaders from across the country to strengthen our systemic thinking, share best practices on developing democratic and regenerative enterprises, and build power to transform our schools and communities into places that uphold our values and empower us to envision the future.

The convergence will build on the momentum of the NEI Campus Network program, which is currently supporting 14 student-led New Economy initiatives across North America. Campus organizers are raising awareness about the New Economy on their campuses, creating meaningful collaborations between students and their local communities, and laying local foundations for building a just and sustainable economy.

reRoute will feature dynamic speakers, collaborative workshops and trainings, and open space for participants to connect, build shared analysis and move their own work forward.
