Join Patrice at Fandango Restaurant on Thursday, May 9th for a Celebration of her New Book of Poems

Listen To Poems and Enjoy Small Bites Themed To Capture The Flavor of Each Poem, Sip Local Wine and Support The Food Bank For Monterey County!

·Location is upstairs at Fandango Restaurant located at 223 17th Street in Pacific Grove.

 

·Join Patrice at Fandango Restaurant for an intimate and rousing reading from The Knot Untiedfollowed by conversations about the knots poetry can untie that no other form can. Patrice will discuss the unusual route she took to publish this collection. The Knot Untiedwas published by a community of readers. She developed an Indiegogo campaign that she announced through Facebook, creating a venue for the community to fund her new book. Very quickly, teachers, housewives, musicians, doctors and lawyers came together to make it possible for her new collection of poems The Knot Untied to BE published. She will also share her original art from which the book's cover originates.

 

·Cost is $40 per person plus tax and gratuity. $25 from every ticket sale will go to support The Food Bank For Monterey County. The Food Bank for Monterey County is the largest provider of emergency supplemental food in Monterey County. Our mission is “to lead community efforts in the awareness and elimination of hunger in Monterey County.” The food bank solicits, collects, stores, and redistributes food to individuals as well as non-profit agencies that serve the aged, ill, and needy. The Food Bank for Monterey County is a member of Feeding America, the national network of food banks. Feeding America is the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States.

Patrice Vecchione

Patrice Vecchione is the author of “Writing and the Spiritual Life: Finding Your Voice by Looking Within,” from McGraw-Hill (“Trust the voice of Patrice Vecchione,” The Writer Magazine) and an earlier collection of poems, “Territory of Wind” from Many Hands Press. She's the editor of many anthologies, including: “Truth and Lies,” “The Body Eclectic” and “Revenge and Forgiveness,” for young adults, from Henry Holt, “Whisper and Shout: Poems to Memorize,” for children, from Cricket Books, and co-editor of “Catholic Girls,” and “Storming Heaven’s Gate” for grown-ups, from Penguin Books. “A Woman’s Life in Pieces,” Patrice’s one-woman play, was performed to full houses throughout the Monterey Bay area.
For 35 years, she’s taught poetry to young people through her program, The Heart of the Word: Poetry and Imagination. A collage artist, her work appears on book covers. She teaches both collage and creative writing workshops at community centers, universities, libraries and at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, Calif.
Patrice makes her home in Monterey, Calif., with her best beloveds: her husband, Michael, two cats and a garden, often in bloom. Whenever possible, she wanders the trails at Jacks Peak Park.
