This course introduces a child and youth care model for supporting individuals who have experienced relational stress, trauma, or disrupted relationships. Shifting from common deficit or strictly behavioral models, this course incorporates brain science to inform straightforward, yet thoughtful ways of reimbursing young people for the broken or missing experiences in their lives.
Participant learning outcomes
On completion of this course successful participants will be able to:
- Describe the significance and process of relational repair
- Assess and respond to basic brain states that drive behavior
- Apply strategies to reimburse young people in elements of their lives that have been broken or are missing
- Integrate short term, momentary management concepts when supporting individuals who are escalated or under stress

This course meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Education Psychologists (LEPs), and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families; Provider 2522).
