William Brinson had great agents and had worked on some larger ad campaigns that were about to change his and his wife's (Susan) life. William is a still life and food photographer and was on the up and up with his career. Susan is a design director at a mid-sized ad agency.
Three years ago, in November 2009, they decided to take a risk and move into a 2,000 sq ft live/work space in Midtown. It was the perfect daylight space with a kitchen in the studio area. It was a gutted space, and they were willing to build it out. Then the phone call came. They had been in the space for 5 days, and were standing in a room determined to be the kitchen with a pipe coming out of the wall, and Will's agent called to say he was going out of business. Since Will shot mostly advertising, Will pretty much had no income.
They came up with a plan. Susan treated Will like an advertising client, and started to rebrand him and strategize his entire life.
