Event Details

Records and information management (RIM) has long been out of the basement file rooms and is now in the daily news. From the issues surrounding inappropriate handling and storage of email and servers to the lack of data security and cyber breaches, RIM issues are engulfing us in almost every aspect of our life due the growth and usage of digital tools and the correlating complex issues.

Join us to learn: – Records and Information Management Basics in the current business environment – If your organization is on the right track to manage their records and information – How to collaborate with other key disciplines to build an Information Governance Program

Speaker: Janet Ruhala Johnson, CRM R&IMS Program Leader Ernst & Young, LLP 
With a 30+ years in the field of records and information management (RIM), Janet currently serves as the Records & Information Management Services (R&IMS) Program leader, Associate Director at Ernst & Young LLP in the Atlanta office.

Janet’s current responsibilities include managing a virtual team covering all US office locations in the areas of RIM policy and procedures, training programs, records retention scheduling, litigation holds program and more. Prior to joining Ernst & Young in 2006, Janet worked as a Records Compliance Manager and in other RIM roles at Pfizer pharmaceuticals for 19 years.

In 2003, Janet became a Certified Records Manager (CRM) and has since participated on the ICRM Exam Development team for 4 years. Janet is a 7-year member of Atlanta Chapter of ARMA where she served on the chapter Board of Directors as the Education Director, President and most recently as the Board Chair. Prior to this, she was a 9-year member of Western Michigan Chapter of ARMA.

Janet has performed many volunteer positions for Junior Achievement, FORCE organization, Catholic Board of Education Kalamazoo, Michigan and has presented RIM topics at various venues including Western Michigan University, ARMA International conference, ARMA southeast regional conference, and many ARMA chapter meetings. In 2005, Janet served on the committee of 40 members to develop the RIM job competencies for ARMA International and contributed to an ARMA International Content Strategy Task Force.
