About the Course
Clinical documentation is part of every service complementary and alternative medicine providers render to patients. It is a reflection of your professionalism and it sets you apart from other alternative providers.
The seminar will focus on avoiding common documentation errors, meeting today’s standards, and new technologies and requirements that will soon be the norm for healthcare professionals. The program will also look at briefly at billing and coding, including ways to prepare for the shift to ICD-10.
Breakout sessions for each discipline will be held following a general session that establishes a common background.

Moderator & Presenters
Minga Guerrero, DC - Moderator
Dr. Guerrero is a 1984 graduate of University of Western States and has been in private practice 29 years. Dr. Guerrero was appointed to the OBCE in 2003 and served as Board President 2004-2009. She is currently serves as a consultant to the OBCE.
Tom Freedland, DC
Dr. Freedland has been practicing chiropractic for over 24 years. He has presented at continuing education programs in over a dozen states to attorneys, claims personnel, health professionals, and law enforcement on medical fraud, billing, and clinical documentation. He is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and a Fellow with the American Board of Forensic Examiners.
John Peick, JD
Mr. Peick has been Legal Counsel to the Washington State Chiropractic Association since 1991 and has worked on joint projects with other healthcare practitioner groups. He lectures on various healthcare practitioner subjects and other legal topics. His practice emphasizes health care, small business, personal injury and wrongful death claims.
Rita Bettenburg, ND
Dr. Bettenburg is a nationally and internationally respected expert on naturopathic medicine with an extensive background in both clinical practice and teaching. She currently works in private practice and service as the President of the Counsil on Naturopathic Medical Education.
Peter Martin, LAc
Mr. Martin is a licensed acupuncturist in private practice in Portland since May 1993. His professional credentials include a Masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and diplomate status conferred by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists. He presently serves as chair of the Board of Trustees of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.
Chuck Simpson, DC
Dr. Simpson a 1978 graduate of University of Western States and is board certified by the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists. He maintained a private practice near Portland for 25 years. Dr. Simpson served on the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners and is currently a member of the Site Team Academy of the Council on Chiropractic Education.
Continuing Education from The CHP Group
For over 23 years CHP has worked to bring relevant education to CAM providers. As in the past, this Continuing Education seminar will be FREE to providers on the CHP network - one of the many benefits of partnering with CHP.
Oregon Chiropractors: Certificate of attendance for six (6) hours of Continuing Education specifiying record keeping education as approved by the Oregon Board of Chiropractors to meet record keeping education requirements for 2013.
Licensed Massage Therapists/Practitioners; Washington Chiropractors and Naturopathic Physicians: Certificate of attendance for six (6) hours/units of Continuing Education.
Licensed Acupuncturists: Certificate of attendance for 6 Professional Development Activity credits as approvedl by National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Oregon Naturopathic Physicians: Certificate of attendance for 5.75 hours of General Continuing Education as approved by the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine.

Parking at The Embassy Suites Portland Downtown Self-Park Garage is free for all seminar attendees. Please follow the directions below to reach the parking garage.
From the North:
Drive 1-5 South to Exit 302A (Rose Quarter).
Follow the City Center signs over the Broadway Bridge.
Continue in the left lane, this will put on Broadway.
Go 8 blocks to Burnside and turn left. Go 4 Blocks to 3rd Street and turn right.
Go 3 blocks to Oak Street and turn right. Go 1 block and turn right.
The Self-Park garage entrance will be on the right.
From the South:
Drive 1-5 North (stay in the left lane when approaching the city) and take the Front Avenue Exit.
Turn right on Front Avenue and go 12 blocks to Oak Street.
Turn left on Oak Street. Go 4 blocks to 4th Street and turn right.
The Self-Park garage entrance will be on the right.
From the East:
Drive 1-84 West and follow the City Center signs over the Morrison Bridge.
Turn right at the first stop light and onto 2nd Street.
Go 2 blocks to Oak Street.
Turn left on Oak Street.
Go 4 blocks to 4th Street and turn right. The Self-Park garage entrance will be on the right.
From the West:
Drive Highway 26 East and follow the Market Street signs (center lane).
Continue on Market Street to 4th Street and turn left.
Go approximately 12 blocks.
Just past Oak Street turn right into our Self-Park garage.
