Journalism appears to be in the midst of an epochal change, equivalent in magnitude to the emergence of the Penny Press in the 1830s. But how much of this digitally enabled transformation is surface-level only? What about it is enduring? And what are the more fundamental scholarly problems that these changes— real or not-- bring to light?
C.W. Anderson tackles these questions by zooming in on the news ecosystem in one major American city-- Philadelphia, PA.-- in his book Rebuilding the News.
This will be a special event, insofar as it will feature not only Anderson discussing his book, but will also include several of the Philadelphia journalists, bloggers, and hackers Anderson interviewed for the book reflecting on their journalistic experiences over the past decade.
The event will include cocktails from 6-7pm, with the talk starting at 7:00 and running until 8pm.
