Acquire the basic skills of orienteering and animal tracking in this unique class, and be prepared to enjoy your fall and winter outings. Knowing these skills can increase your comfort level and appreciation of the wildlife that walk silently through the woods. A half day classroom session will cover the use of Silva Ranger compass, topographic maps, ($8.00 per map) and animal tracking techniques. Bring a calculator, pencils and scale. Then we’ll enjoy an afternoon field session where we’ll practice with the compass and track identification. Don’t forget lunch, water, hiking boots and curiosity.
